20 and 720 bus detours this weekend for Purple Line station construction

The good news: Metro is ramping up work on the construction of a new subway station for the Purple Line at Wilshire and La Brea. The not-quite-as-sunny news: here comes 22 weekend closures to build decking across Wilshire.

And that means the Metro Local 20 and Rapid 720 that normally run along Wilshire Boulevard will be detouring around the closures from 8 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. In this first phase of the decking work, the 20 and 720 will be using Fairfax, 3rd and La Brea — see the above map.

On the west side of the closure, the last stop on Wilshire will be at Wilshire and Crescent Heights. On the east side, the last stop will be at Wilshire and Highland.
