Love is old, love is new — from family to lawn gnomes

Saint Valentine’s Day approach-eth! And while some buy chocolates, flowers and other goodies, we here at Metro are indulging in our favorite love-and-transit moments.

Today, Amélie (played by Audry Tautou) experiences love at first site in the Lamarck-Caulaincourt Metro Station in Paris. Though we strongly urge that you do not to race after a stranger while carrying a lawn gnome, Amélie is rewarded with evidence that her would-be-beau is just as quirky as she is.

If you’re looking for your own quirky sweetheart, you might just find them this Friday at Speed Dating on the Metro Red Line. And if you’ve already found that person who’s weird in the same ways you are, our Destination Discounts page is full of Valentine’s picks for a fun date night that includes Metro.

Finally, while romance is great, we think Valentine’s Day can (and should) be about appreciating all the loves in your life–including friends and family. Perhaps take a cue from Michael Fassbender’s character in Shame, and promise to be there for your loved ones. (Even if they won’t leave your jacket fluff alone.)
