New video from L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on region’s transportation projects and challenges

This new video from the Office of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa — who just assumed the role of Chairman of the Metro Board — looks at his transportation program, including many of the projects that Metro is planning or building.

The video also includes some snippets about America Fast Forward, the plan originally conceived by the Mayor to accelerate the building of 12 Measure R transit projects by using federal loans and bonds. Federal law needs to be changed for America Fast Forward to happen and Congress just started debating the next transportation bill that thus far includes some of the AFF provisions.

Villaraigosa is in Washington D.C. today to testify before the Senate on America Fast Forward. Here’s an advance story from the Daily News.

With that in mind, this video is clearly targeted not just at Angelenos, but also lawmakers in D.C. as well as the other transit agencies across the nation that could take advantage of an America Fast Forward program. What do you think of the video? Leave a comment please.

  1. I love the video! So proud of our mayor. I only hope that the next mayor who replaces Villaraigosa can fill his shoes when it comes to being so proactive about expanding our transit network.
