National Library Week, April 10 to 16, is an opportunity to reflect upon our own good fortune here at Metro, where the agency’s library boasts one of the most comprehensive collections of transportation research, digital and otherwise, in the United States.

In celebration of these centers of learning and the expertise of librarians through the ages, the American Library Association challenges libraries across the country to document their own story.

The library’s Primary Resources blog took up the challenge in its latest post.

“The Metro Transportation Library and its historic incarnations have played an important role in transportation research locally, nationally and internationally as far back as 1890,” writes Kenn Bicknell, the library’s digital resources librarian.

There’s a lot more in the post, titled “Creating Our Own Story:” How Metro Transportation Library & Archive Has Shared Collections And Information Since 1937.
