Metro will host the 2010 Pedestrian Symposium: Walking into the Future City on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Metro headquarters to discuss pedestrian related issues around the car-centric Southern California region.
The objective of the event is to explore strategies to increase travel options and create sustainable, healthy, livable communities. Participants will learn the latest information on critical pedestrian planning issues such as funding, transportation, urban design, and community health and engage in an essential and pertinent dialogue about the future of our communities.
The panels will include area planners, public officials, transportation and health professionals, advocates, among others. The hope is to generate some good ideas that cities in Los Angeles County may want to pursue with help from Metro.
This event will take place in the board room from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Metro headquarters, One Gateway Plaza, downtown Los Angeles. Register for the symposium or receive more information by sending your email to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Alice Tolar at (213) 922-2218 or Julie Leung at (213) 922-4373.
