State budget being knocked for its impact on transit

The California Transit Assn., which represents transit agencies in the state, put out a scathing press release this morning criticizing the budget proposed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last week for potentially ending state funding of public transit. Here’s a link to the release.

Elected officials from many cities in Los Angeles County also held a press conference Monday morning at Los Angeles City Hall to promote a ballot measure that they want to go to voters in November. Supporters say that the measure would stop diversions of money by the State Legislature from local services. The CTA is one of the supporters of the measure.
